Bridgeport High School football standout Alex Moses finalized plans to continue his career at the next level, signing his National Letter of Intent with Glenville State University on Thursday.
The signing ceremony took place at BHS in front of a crowd of family, friends, teammates and coaches.
“I felt a lot of love when I visited,” Moses said. “I also feel like Glenville is going to be a very good team. They have a lot of coaches that know what they want to do.
“I want to go to a program where I can trust them. Their plan is to develop me, so I like that plan.”
Moses had a sensational senior season on both sides of the ball as well as special teams for the undefeated Class AAA state champion Indians. He ran for 1,160 yards on 79 carries and 22 touchdowns in addition to returning two kicks for touchdowns and intercepting three passes.
Moses was a Class AAA First-Team All-State Selection as a running back and was named the class title game MVP after running for 141 yards with a pair of touchdowns on just seven attempts in the Indians’ 49-7 win against Herbert Hoover.
The majority of Moses’ highlight-reel touchdowns featured jaw-dropping moves in the open field thanks in large part to his uncanny vision that seemingly allowed him to see things develop before anybody else.
” I feel like the way I see the game is different than a lot of kids,” Moses said. I understand it at a deep depth. I hope that helps me play earlier at Glenville.”
Moses said there have been talks with playing on either side of the ball and he will be happy no matter if he winds up on offense or defense and is ready for wherever he can help out the Pioneers the most.
Moses said his original plans were to major in criminal justice but he’s now thinking about getting into the school’s physical therapy program.
No matter where he plays or what he majors in, Moses won’t be going to Glenville alone.
His friend and teammate, Donovan Williams, also signed his Letter of Intent with the Pioneers on Thursday. (Editor’s Note: More on Williams’ decision coming on Saturday on Connect-Bridgeport.)
“It’s amazing, it’s a great feeling,” Moses said of Williams joining him in Glenville. “We have spent countless nights staying up to 6 a.m. getting yelled out at by our parents. This is a dream come true.”
