Getting to Know Peyton Henderson: Question and Answer Session with Standout Senior Football Player

By Chris Johnson on November 22, 2020

What’s your favorite movie?
Any of the Transformers movies. They are just a good time and I’m a sci-fi fan.

Who is the best high school athlete you have competed against?
Zach Frazier (former Fairmont Senior and current WVU standout).

Favorite subject in school?
History.

You have to go into quarantine, what three items do you go buy in bulk, so you don’t run out of?
Toilet Paper, water and probably gummies.

Any pregame superstitions or rituals?
I go to Subway before every game and eat with my Dad. This year I’ve gotten the same sub every week, turkey, cheese and bacon melt with lettuce, jalapenos, Italian dressing and mayonnaise.

What game of your career sticks out the most?
The state championship game last year against Bluefield.

Describe Coach Cole in one word.
A debacle.

Best side dish for Thanksgiving dinner?
Mashed potatoes and gravy. You can’t go without it on Thanksgiving.

Favorite Christmas song?
All I Want For Christmas is You by Mariah Carey for sure.

Celebrity Crush?
Megan Fox.

What music are you listening to before the game to get you fired up?
A mixture of rap and some heavy metal stuff. Just some upbeat music.

Any secret talents that most people would be surprised to know you have?
I can chug a water abnormally fast. People just find that amazing.

Who’s the funniest player on the Bridgeport football team?
Matthew Poling.

Where’s one place in the world you have never been to that you would like to visit?
Alaska.

Favorite meal?
My grandma’s homemade chicken parmigiana for sure.

Favorite pro or college athlete?
Maurkice Pouncey because he plays center.

Favorite pro or college team?
College WVU and NFL the Steelers.

What is more exciting a big play on offense or defense?
Huge play on defense.

The coolest animal at the zoo?
The lions.

We all know lockdown, quarantine, whatever you want to call it was anything but ideal. But what was one cool thing you were able to get out of it?
I just worked out most of the time when we were in lockdown.

Most memorable sports moment you have had as a fan?
The Steelers winning the Super Bowl (XLIII) against the Cardinals and that game-winning touchdown catch (by Santonio Holmes).

What’s one thing it seems like everybody you know likes but you can’t stand?
Probably tomatoes in my salad. I can’t stand tomatoes in a salad.

The best thing on TV right now is?
Any football game that is on.

What is the most important thing being an athlete at BHS has taught you?
You have to be dedicated. You have to be in the weight room and you have to listen to what the coaches say. If not, you are just going to fall behind and get left behind.

There’s a young kid in the community just getting into the football, what advice do you give him or her?
Keep working hard. Keep your head up and keep going.
