By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 14, 2025

Bridgeport High School maintained the top spot in the latest Class AAA MetroNew Power Ranking that came out on Thursday as the Indians edged out Shady Spring.

BHS collected 48 points in the poll, while Shady Spring finished with 47. The Indians earned three first place votes with SSHS netting the remaining two votes.

The poll is voted upon weekly by a panel of five radio broadcasters and sports writers across West Virginia.

With the postseason approaching, the Indians are on a roll. The team is currently 15-1 and has won 12 games in a row since losing to Nitro early in the season. The Wildcats are ranked fourth in the Class AAA standings, while Herbert Hoover is in the third spot.

Bridgeport will face a red-hot Robert C. Byrd team Saturday in Clarksburg. The Eagles have won nine straight games and stand at 12-3 on the season. BHS won the first game of the year 67-47, but both squads are greatly imrproved from the matchup that took place at Bridgeport on December 19, or nearly two months ago.

RCB is ranked fifth in th standings. One other AAA foe is listed that Bridgeport has faced at that is Fairmont Senior at No. 7. University, in Class AAAA, is ranked ninth.
