Prep Football Playoff Projections: Joe Brocato Breaks Down All Classes in MetroNews Prognostication

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 07, 2019

Although everything should be ironed out by the end of Saturday and will definitely be ironed out by Sunday in Parkersburg, MetroNews’ Joe Brocato has put together was he believes are the playoff projections in all three classes based on current situations and situations that will be determined after the final week of the regular season.

As of now, Brocato is projecting good things for Bridgeport in the Class AA football playoffs. As of now, Brocato shows the Indians having clinched one home game with their 8-1 record. However, a win Friday has the Indians clinching a top three seed.

According to his projections, he adds the Tribe “likely will be #2.” A two-seed guarantees the Indians home field through the first three rounds of the playoffs if they continue to win.

Plenty of Bridgeport opponents are also in the mix. Fairmont Senior will secure the top seed with a win and Keyser could finish as high as number four.

North Marion will clinch a home game with a win as well. However, a win by the Huskies could knock another local out. NMHS will battle Liberty Friday and the Mountaineers are currently ranked in the No. 15 spot.

The last local team in the mix is Lewis County. The 6-3 Minutemen and ranked No. 16 – as the last team in the field now – will face Grafton to close the season. Brocato states a win “will likely clinch a playoff berth.” There’s also a possibility a win by LCHS and Bridgeport could have the two teams meeting in the opening round.

No other teams locally are in contention in Class AA.

In Class A, Doddridge County will need to get a win against 7-2 Tygarts Valley to complete a 10-0 season. A win will guarantee the Bulldogs a No. 1 seed.

In Class AAA, Martinsburg in the top seed at 10-0.
