4th Annual Clarksburg Pepperoni Roll 5K Returns September 30 to Downtown Clarksburg Benefitting The Clarksburg Children’s House Montessori School

The Clarksburg Children’s House, a Montessori School located in Glen Elk, will host its 4th Annual Pepperoni Roll 5K on Saturday, September 30 at 8:30AM. The race begins and ends at 444 W. Pike Street near The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center. Surrounding streets will be closed at 8AM with vendors and registration located in the Clarksburg Baptist Church parking lot across the street.

In 2019, The Clarksburg Children's House (TCCH) started this family-friendly 5K race through downtown Clarksburg to raise funds for the school and highlight Clarksburg’s unique status of having the most pepperoni roll bakeries in the state. “This race has become an event our school families and community really look forward to. Last year’s race was a huge success with over 200 registered runners, after finally returning to an in-person event,” said TCCH Fundraising Chair Kaitlin Walker. “This year, we have many new, exciting things happening on race day to hopefully encourage even more community involvement.” With the race beginning at 8:30AM, the event organizers are inviting the general public to come out and support this year’s race between 8AM-11AM, even if they aren’t planning to run. Administrative Director Dawn Woodburn said, “We hope people come spend their morning with us cheering on runners, enjoying the food trucks and vendors, all while supporting our school.” This year’s race will feature food vendors It’s Tarty Time (lemonade & mini pancakes), Groove on the Move (coffee truck), and This & That Bakery (baked goods). A selection of local artisan products will be available to purchase from Market on Main and WV artist Liz Pavlovic, who designed the race’s iconic running pepperoni roll, will be in attendance with her artwork. As a new addition this year, multiple licensed massage therapists will be available to provide massages to attendees in exchange for a donation to the school. One exciting change at this year’s race is the greater amount of local pepperoni roll bakery involvement. Race attendees will be able to purchase fresh D’Annunzio’s and Rogers & Mazza rolls that morning while supplies last, with all proceeds going to the school. Every registered runner will receive a pepperoni roll in their swag bag, generously made and provided by Almost Heaven Desserts & Coffee. Finally, every winner in their age division will receive a bag of mini pepperoni rolls donated by Tomaro’s Bakery. Race winners will also receive a winners certificate and special memorabilia from Liz Pavlovic. Runners can pre-register for the race online through RunSignUp.com until 9/29 or on the morning of the race in person. Registrants will receive a free race T-shirt, pepperoni roll, and custom-made medal while supplies last. Kids 10 & under are welcome to run or walk with adults for free, but only registered children will be eligible to win their age group and receive a swag bag. There is also still a virtual race option for those who want to participate, but aren’t local to Clarksburg. More details and the race route can be found on the Facebook Page, Clarksburg Pepperoni Roll 5K, or on RunSignUp.com. All proceeds from this event will support fundraising efforts at The Clarksburg Children’s House Montessori School. TCCH is dedicated to developing each child’s potential and natural love of learning by encouraging the child to take ownership of their learning through imaginative, collaborative, hands-on, self-paced, and joyful work. TCCH is a non-profit 501(c)(3), non-sectarian school that admits all children regardless of race, creed, color, or origin. TCCH offers scholarships to those who need financial assistance, and provides jobs in the heart of Clarksburg, stimulating economic growth and the revitalization of the city. For more information about the school or to donate, visit www.clarksburgmontessori.com or email newtcchfriend@gmail.com.
