In a battle of two of the top teams in Class AAA, Bridgeport prevailed late to get past Big 10 Conference opponent East Fairmont by a 53-51 score in Maion County Wednesday evening, Jan. 4.
The Indians are now 13-2 on the year and, weather permitting, will host Grafton this evening, Jan. 6. It was the 11th win in a row for the Tribe.
The Bees fell to 12-3. The setback ended the team's 11-game winning streak.
Bridgeport secured the win following a late steal by Gavin Williams, who was fouled going in for a layup. Williams sank two free throws with 0.2 seconds remaining to finish with 12 points. Anderson McDougal led the way with 16 points.
