By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 18, 2021

As reported by WV MetroNews, former Lewis County assistant coach Jimmy Hankins has been named the new head coach of the Elkins High School football program. Hankins was officially named the 16th head coach in team history following approval from the Randolph County Board of Education Tuesday evening.

Hankins comes to Elkins from Lewis County High School, where he spent nine seasons as an assistant coach. Prior to LCHS, Hankins has also been an assistant coach at Robert C. Byrd High School, Providence High School in Charlotte, N.C. and River Valley High School in Gallia County, Oh. He is a native of Ironton, Ohio and a graduate of Marshall University.

“I appreciate this opportunity, it’s an honor and a privilege,” Hankins said. “I know we’ve got a lot of hard work ahead of us, but I’m excited to start a new chapter in Fighting Tiger football.”
